Questions We Get Asked………….

So, as background, we’ve been responsibly breeding dogs for close to 15 years.  During that time, we’ve had the pleasure of matching 100’s of pups with new families --- many, many of these families refer us to other friends or even come back for a second pup.  Here is a sampling of things that come up from time to time.

·         Why do you require a deposit to hold a pup?

This one should be pretty obvious but as soon as you place a deposit we are in effect promising to hold that pup for you.  This means removing it from advertising, often arranging delivery, and then, paying for a health certificate.  All of this represents expenses for us so a deposit is your way of showing good faith that you intend to complete your purchase of the pup.

·         How do I know you aren’t scamming me?

Well, I guess there is a little trust required.  You can look at our history of pups placed, our social media, our Google reviews, our web site, our past interviews ---- all of these show a track record of ethical breeding and delivery.  We’ll do phone calls, face times, etc… to make sure you are comfortable with your pick.  With each pup we’ll do an agreement that spells out the terms and conditions --- including committing to a health cert upon delivery.  In the end, our goal is to match you with the best pup for you and have a forever home for your new pup.

·         I want to come to your yard and play with all the pups before I pick.  Can I do that?

If you do a little research, you’ll see that this sort of arrangement is very uncommon.  There are three primary reasons we don’t do this.  First, is safety.  Believe it or not, there are stories in the news all the time about breeders being targeted.  We avoid that ever happening by arranging delivery or pick-up.   Second, and probably more importantly, we spend every day with these pups.  We know their personalities – we know how they play – we know how they respond to stimulus.  With your help describing what you are looking for, we are in a much better position to help you pick the right pup (remotely, through Face Time).  Third, we must get a health cert for the dog you select and they do expire.  In the end, our policy serves both of our best interests.

·         Why did you mix bulldog breeds?

That is a long story but we loved the little differences in the Pocket Pitties,  Pacific Bulldog and English Bulldog.  We thought with the mix we could create a great, healthy line.  And we did – with seven generations of The Saint Johns Bulldogs we have a great look – great temperament – and great health.  In the future, we’ll occasionally do a St Johns breeding as well as pure English Bulldogs.  We’ve fully retired our American Bullies == great dogs == but our interest and hearts are moving to Bulldogs.

Last bit of advice we give ---- when you select a pup it is a long term commitment.  They are incredible additions to your family!
